The Silver Society of Australia Inc.

The Silver Society of Australia is the premier organisation in Australia of enthusiasts interested in understanding and appreciating the design and manufacturing of silver items, old, new, everyday and presentation or museum quality.
The Silver Society was founded in Sydney in 1988 and has grown steadily in membership and national significance since then.
The Society is affiliated with the Powerhouse Museum and meets every second month at the Museum, 500 Harris St, Ultimo NSW on a Monday at 7 pm. As well, from time to time the Society arranges visits to collections and exhibitions of interest to members and organises occasional tours both local and interstate.
Members discuss the provenance and history of items during meetings and present papers on subjects of particular interest. Members are encouraged to participate by bringing their own items of silver for discussion and comment. However, neither ownership of silver nor a detailed knowledge of the subject is required for membership.
A bimonthly newsletter and a copy of any papers read at the previous meeting are published and circulated to members. In September 2005, the Society published the first issue of the Silver Journal of Australia, which will appear annually.
The Silver Society is affiliated with the Royal Australian Historical Society and has links with societies overseas.
The Silver Society welcomes applications for membership. Guests may attend up to two meetings after which membership is required. For information, please write to:-
